Since A ROCHA was founded in 1983, one of the objectives was the establishment of a Study and Environmental Interpretation Center, with the capacity to receive people who are interested in studying, either professionally or as amateurs, the nature around them. Since 1987, Cruzinha, a large country house situated in the surroundings of the Ria de Alvor, has been open to the public. With a capacity to accommodate up to 16 people, in female dorm, male dorm and two bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and capacity for two people each.

There is a large, fresh and environmentally friendly garden, with a small lawn whose maintenance does not consume too much water but is sufficient for a lie down. An orchard holding many fruit trees (various citrus, loquat trees, peach, pear and plum), several dried fruit trees (fig, almond and carob trees) and three small biological gardens make it a desirable place for wildlife and pleasant for visitors searching for a rest.

Hundreds of guests have passed through this house, including young scientists, university professors, small school groups from across Portugal, groups from foreign universities on study visits lasting several days, individuals and families seeking to relax and enjoy a nature holiday. Whether for work or rest, everyone has a great time. Our guestbook is full of compliments.
