Almargem

Almargem (Associação de Defesa do Património Cultural e Ambiental do Algarve) is a non-profit association, founded in 1988. We take part in several joint campaigns, with special emphasis on advocacy actions developed in the Alvor Estuary and Lagoa dos Salgados.

Agência Nacional para a Gestão do Programa Juventude em Ação

In cooperation with the ‘Agência Nacional para a Gestão do Programa Juventude em Ação’ we have been developing an extensive work as part of the European Voluntary Service (EVS), which started in 1999.
EVS enables young people to work as volunteers in a country other than that of their residence, for a period of up to twelve months. It fosters solidarity among young people and it is a great learning opportunity. Beyond the benefit to local communities, volunteers learn new skills, learn new languages ??and discover other cultures.

Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente

Together with the ‘Administração da Região Hidrográfica do Algarve’ (now part of APA) we promote the ‘Voluntariado Ambiental para a Água’ programme, in our case, to monitor the coastal ecosystem of the Alvor Estuary, with the aim of evaluating its ecological quality.

Associação Portuguesa de Anilhadores de Aves

We participate in the ‘Monitorização de Aves Invernantes (MAI)’ and in the ‘Estação de Esforço Constante’ (PEEC) program.

Cardiff University

We cooperate in the European Storm-petrel project. We are also a Professional Training Year hosting organization for some of its students. Some scientific publications have been published as a result of this partnership.

Centro de Formação Rui Grácio

We have been providing training opportunities to teachers in collaboration with the Rui Grácio Training Centre. We believe it is important to contribute to the improvement of the teaching of Science by encouraging fieldwork in conjunction with the curriculum programs, as well as improvements in the quality of teaching and learning Science through updating and enhancing knowledge.

Ciência Viva

The ‘Agência Nacional para a Cultura Científica e Tecnológica’, more widely known as ‘Ciência Viva’, promotes and includes more than 2000 activities in Science education throughout the country, which are proposed by universities, research centers, museums, companies, schools and research associations, involving children and young people all over the country. A ROCHA offers three activities for nearly two months, from July to September, as part of the ‘Ciência Viva’ in the Summer.

Grupo Bíblico Universitário de Portugal

A ROCHA has been growing in close cooperation with GBU, seeking to reflect how to live the Christian faith in a practical way. Together, we seek to understand how this can be done, respecting and preserving nature and making sustainable use of the natural resources available to us.

Grupo de Estudos de Ordenamento do Território e Ambiente

GEOTA is an environmental protection association that has been working nationwide, on a nonprofit basis, since 1981. We take part in several joint campaigns, with special emphasis on advocacy actions developed in the Alvor Estuary and Lagoa dos Salgados.

Instituto de Conservação da Natureza e Florestas

We collaborate with ICNF in the Waterbirds Count (anually), the White Stork Census (2004; 2014) and in the Arenaria project (in which SPEA, the ‘Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada’ (ISPA) and the National Natural History Museum also take part).

Liga para a Proteção da Natureza

LPN is the oldest environmental defense association in the Iberian Peninsula, having been founded in 1948. It aims to contribute to nature conservation and environmental protection, from a sustainable development perspective. We take part in several joint campaigns, with special emphasis on advocacy actions developed in the Alvor Estuary and Lagoa dos Salgados.

Quercus

Quercus is an independent association that works nationwide, on a nonprofit basis. It seeks to conserve nature and natural resources as well as protect the environment from a sustainable development perspective. It was set up in 1985. We take part in several joint campaigns, with special emphasis on advocacy actions developed in the Alvor Estuary and Lagoa dos Salgados.

Rede Social de Lagos

This network aims to combat poverty and social exclusion in Lagos by promoting social development. A ROCHA has been a member of this network since October 2007, having taken part in the environmental and education groups.

Sociedade Bíblica

With the Bible Society we have been promoting the biblical message that confronts us with the need and responsibility to take care of the planet and the people who live on it, in an integrated way. The Eklogia exhibition is the most visible result of this partnership.

Sociedade Portuguesa para o Estudo das Aves

SPEA is a nonprofit making scientific association that promotes the study and conservation of birds in Portugal. It was founded in 1993. We take part in the Common Birds Census (since 2004), the Noctua Project (2014) and in the Arenaria project, in which ICNF, the ‘Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada’ (ISPA) and the National Natural History Museum also take part). We also take part in several joint campaigns, with special emphasis on advocacy actions developed in the Alvor Estuary and Lagoa dos Salgados.
